Hello Everyone

Hello Everyone, Lou Liberty here and this is my first broadcast on Ghost. In this space I will share my words with you. Sometimes they will come to you in poetic form, other times in prose. Mostly I am a storyteller.

I am in my mid-80’s. At this time in my life I am not interested in debate, argument, pontificating, pronouncing, ordering or any of those kinds of related activities. I’m just talking, sharing with you my thoughts and experiences throughout the years, which are mostly about something that got my rapt attention in the moment. I trust you to handle the rest.

This method of communication, Ghost and other social media platforms, is very new to me. Years ago when email was magical, fascinating and new, I felt like a cutting edge pioneer when I created a list of followers to whom I regularly sent a poem. The poem was usually accompanied by a short commentary talking about what inspired it. I had a lot of fun for six years with a considerable following who enjoyed what I had to say. I’m hoping this much expanded Ghost platform offers the same enjoyment to me and my readers.

The length of these installments will vary but they will never be long. We are all busy people. I respect the time you give to me among the many choices and requirements you have during your day. So here is my first gift to you. I’m offering it as a brief moment of rest in our complicated and rapidly flowing lives.

At this time of year, just past the Autumn Equinox, I can’t help but think about how both day and night warms and sustains our rhythmic round. Now moving toward the Winter Solstice and the Fertile Dark, I don’t mind the change but instead celebrate the dynamism of our Universe and its seasons. This initial poem is an older one. It fits well with who I am, with the natural cycle and our yearly journey around the sun. I wrote it while nestled beneath what I call “The Grandmother Cottonwood”, a huge old cottonwood tree that is a favorite in the Rio Grande Nature Center State Park where I regularly walk. While thinking about this, that and the other of our contemporary life, and the skills we need to navigate through them, I came upon the following understanding. I have found its practical advice to myself continues to sustain me to this day.

Here is to celebrating all our days!
